Have Credit Bureaus Rectify Incorrect Balances or Stop Reporting on an Account that has been closed
If your balances are incorrectly reported by the credit bureaus it can lower your scores because it affects your debt to credit ratio, an important component of your credit scores. Using our previous example, if you have $8000 in credit and you only owe $2000, you should have a debt to credit ratio of 25%. However, if your balance is being incorrectly reported as $6000, that raises your debt to credit ratio to 66%, which could lower your scores significantly. If you have an old closed account, you could have the credit bureaus stop reporting on it. Closed accounts, like open ones can have a negative impact on your credit scores where it relates to the number of credit accounts you have and your debt to credit ratio, so itís important that you have them deleted if the information is outdated.
